The Oxford Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 42-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bay Path RVT. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Kellen Clarkson and Connor Fantasia certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Clarkson threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns, while Fantasia picked up 135 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Kaiden Brochu continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bay Path RVT, rushing for 402 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 23.6 yards per carry. Brochu has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last 11 times he's played. Bradyn Downes was another key contributor, rushing for 163 yards on only 15 carries.
Oxford now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Bay Path RVT, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Oxford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bay Path RVT will be playing in front of their home fans against Blackstone Valley RVT at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Blackstone Valley RVT's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
