Willow Spring has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Garner Trojans at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Willow Spring's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
Willow Spring scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 74-6 win over Clayton on the road. Willow Spring might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matches by 33 points or more this season.
Willow Spring got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Korin Gladden out in front who scored 20 points. The match was Gladden's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Zariah Burnette was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Garner, who are still winless after their fifth game. They fell 47-35 to Orange on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Garner has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaitlyn Dean, who scored 21 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Jacobs, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Willow Spring's victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23.44 points. As for Garner, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Monday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Willow Spring have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 36.3% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Garner, though, as they've only made 30.2% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Willow Spring came out on top in a nail-biter against Garner in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 45-42. Does Willow Spring have another victory up their sleeve, or will Garner turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
