Zapata has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Port Isabel Tarpons at 8:00 p.m. Zapata will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1532nd, while Port Isabel is ranked 668th).
Last Tuesday, Zapata came up short against Rio Grande City and fell 55-45. Zapata has struggled against Rio Grande City recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Port Isabel had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 55-48 win over Los Fresnos.
Zapata's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Port Isabel, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Zapata came up short against Port Isabel in their previous meeting back in January, falling 50-40. Can Zapata avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
