The Calvary Day Cavaliers and the Cedar Grove Saints squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Calvary Day Cavaliers had to settle for second. They fell 49-42 to the Saints. Calvary Day's loss signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Calvary Day still got an impressive performance from Jake Merklinger, who threw for 305 yards and five touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Calvary Day's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Cedar Grove's QB won't forget Walter Mathis Jr. anytime soon given Mathis Jr. sacked him twice.
Calvary Day's defeat dropped their record down to 13-1. As for Cedar Grove, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.
Calvary Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cedar Grove will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Savannah Christian at 1:00 p.m. on December 13th. Savannah Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 432 points over their last nine contests.
