Heritage Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Mission Heights Prep since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Heroes will square off against the Phantoms at 7:00 p.m. Heritage Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Mission Heights Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Wednesday, Heritage Academy made easy work of AZ Compass Prep National and carried off a 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Heroes, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Micah Figueroa tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Conrad Reichard was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aiden Petro, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mission Heights Prep walked away with it. They skirted past the Eagles 8-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Phantoms.
Jacob Kemp was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Ricky Luevano was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Mission Heights Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Heritage Academy pushed their record up to 13-1-1 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average this season. As for Mission Heights Prep, their win bumped their record up to 10-4-2.
Heritage Academy took their victory against Mission Heights Prep when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 18-4 score. Will the Heroes repeat their success, or do the Phantoms have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
