Battle Mountain has been on the road for 12 straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Pershing County Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Battle Mountain: 28.6, Pershing County: 23.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
After soaring to 64 points the game before, Battle Mountain were a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They took a 38-22 bruising from Yerington. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Battle Mountain has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Stevlana Martinez, who scored five points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eimilie Johnson, who scored three points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pershing County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Incline for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-14 victory on the road. Pershing County's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Pershing County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raegan Burrows led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Burrows has scored at least 25% of Pershing County's points. Another player making a difference was Anna Happy, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Battle Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Pershing County, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Battle Mountain skirted past Pershing County 39-37 in their previous matchup back in February. Will Battle Mountain repeat their success, or does Pershing County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
