After a string of four wins, the South Ripley Raiders's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oldenburg Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to South Ripley of the 35-31 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why South Ripley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lexi Franklin. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Reese Obendorf, who scored nine points along with two steals.
South Ripley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Oldenburg Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
South Ripley will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against South Dearborn at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. South Dearborn is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. Oldenburg Academy will take on Purdue Polytechnic at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
