There's no place like home for the Ashe County Huskies, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 54-48 win over Alexander Central on Friday. For Ashe County, this counts as revenge for the 56-42 loss Alexander Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Ashe County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Harrison Langdon led the charge by scoring 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ian Graybeal, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Alexander Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chad Lasher, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Fortner, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Alexander Central were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ashe County only posted four assists.
Ashe County's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Alexander Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashe County will challenge Hibriten at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Alexander Central, they will head out on the road to take on Watauga at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Watauga has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 213 points over their last three matchups.
