The Wabaunsee Chargers will challenge the Chase County Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wabaunsee has three straight wins, Chase County has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Wabaunsee is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Burlingame with a sharp 22-4 victory on Thursday. Considering the Chargers have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Reese Michaelis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Wabaunsee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Chase County came up short against Osage City on Friday, falling 16-1.
Wabaunsee's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Chase County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Wabaunsee beat Chase County 5-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
