Bozeman let Brooks Skipper and Zac Flitcraft run wild. Skipper scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4, while Flitcraft went 1-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Skipper has posted since back in April of 2024. Cash Zirkle was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Bozeman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Wakulla made sure to put some runs up on the board against Madison County on Tuesday. Wakulla put the hurt on Madison County with a sharp 12-5 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the War Eagles have posted against the Cowboys since March 21, 2022.
William Wright looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sam Bruce was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Merrill, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Bozeman's win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Wakulla, their record now sits at 7-3.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bozeman has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Wakulla struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bozeman came up short against Wakulla in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, falling 5-0. Can Bozeman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
