Provine has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Canton Tigers at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Friday, Provine ended up a good deal behind Jim Hill and lost 53-37.
Meanwhile, Canton came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Murrah with a sharp 59-35 victory. The result was nothing new for Canton, who have now won three matches by 24 points or more so far this season.
Canton found their leader in underclassman Shamira Morton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Morton's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Kaniyah Hawkins was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five assists and four steals.
Provine's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Canton, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Provine might still be hurting after the 53-29 loss they got from Canton in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Provine avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
