Basketball Recap: Chaparral Takes Down Ranked Thunderridge

On Friday, Chaparral faced ThunderRidge in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Chaparral Wolverines walked away with a 75-62 victory over the ThunderRidge Grizzlies. The win was nothing new for the Wolverines as they're now sitting on three straight.

Chaparral got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Williams out in front who went 8 for 16 en route to 20 points and seven assists. Those seven assists gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Williams, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 14 points along with eight boards and four blocks.

Despite the loss, ThunderRidge still got an impressive performance from Drew Paine, who went 8 for 15 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. Paine's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Aman Binu was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Chaparral pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for ThunderRidge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Chaparral will square off against Highlands Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Highlands Ranch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season. As for ThunderRidge, they will face off against Regis Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Regis Jesuit will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something ThunderRidge surely won't give up without a fight.
