Football Recap: North Desoto Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

North DeSoto extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-0. Everything went their way against the Northwood Falcons as they made off with a 52-26 victory. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

Braelyn Latin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 161 yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 108 rushing yards per game. Kenny Thomas helped out on the ground, rushing for 91 yards and a rushing touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: North DeSoto was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

North DeSoto didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Porter Doyal and Jonathan Perry-Jr. Perry-Jr also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, Northwood fell to 3-1. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while North DeSoto is ranked eighth).

Despite the loss, Northwood still got an impressive performance from John Sneed, who rushed for 70 yards and one TD on only seven carries, and also caught one score.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. North DeSoto will square off against rival Booker T. Washington-Shreveport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 885 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Northwood is set to face off against their familiar foe Woodlawn-Shreveport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
