Basketball Recap: Ronald Wilder Jr. and Darryl White Jr Secure Win for Greene County

There's no place like home for Greene County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They managed a 52-48 win over the Holy Spirit Catholic Saints on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Saints back in November of 2024, they had to take a 44-39 defeat.

Leading Greene County to victory were Darryl White Jr and Ronald Wilder Jr.. White Jr dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists, while Wilder Jr. dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Wilder Jr. a new career-high in steals (three). Chance Richardson was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Greene County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Holy Spirit Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greene County will challenge Tuscaloosa Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holy Spirit Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pickens Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Spirit Catholic is facing Pickens Academy at the right time seeing as Pickens Academy is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
