The Fullerton Warriors were the 46-43 winner over the Riverside Chargers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Fullerton lost to Riverside at home by a decisive 59-42 margin on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that Fullerton let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Fullerton saw an underclassman step up: Kane Wetovick scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrick Gonsior, who scored eight points.
Jack Molt was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points for Riverside. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. Drew Carraher was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Fullerton's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3. As for Riverside, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Fullerton will head out on the road to face off against Twin River on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Kirk Hebda and Wetovick. As for Riverside, they will be playing at home against Chambers/Wheeler Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chambers/Wheeler Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
