The Northwest Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Whitehorse, falling 72-33. Northwest was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.
Whitehorse had a senior duo take command as Lyric Phillips scored 28 points and Larenz Tsosie scored 15 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Phillips has scored at least a third of Whitehorse's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Black, who scored nine points.
Northwest's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-11. As for Whitehorse, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Northwest will head out on the road to face off against Coronado at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Coronado is ranked 141st, while Northwest is ranked 148th). As for Whitehorse, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Green River at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Green River's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
