The Skyview Wolverines stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Aurora Central 67-12 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-6.
Leading Skyview to victory were Leila Estrada and Nevaeh Lucero. Estrada scored 14 points along with eight assists and four steals, while Lucero almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, nine assists, and ten steals. Lucero hasn't dropped below three steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Yzabella Tafoya, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the defeat, Aurora Central saw an underclassman step up: Jamaea Johnson Gonzalez scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Johnson Gonzalez hasn't dropped below two blocks for nine straight games. Abukd Atem was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds.
Skyview has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Aurora Central, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Skyview will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Adams City sitting on four straight victories and the Wolverines on three. As for Aurora Central, they will head out on the road to square off against the Olympians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
