Softball Recap: Dreher Wins Going Away Against Richland Northeast

Dreher won the last time they faced Richland Northeast and things went their way on Thursday too. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Cavaliers. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Rory McCormack made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Dreher let Anna Coates and Kendall Gipson run wild. Coates went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Gipson went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Elle Lockard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Dreher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dreher's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. As for Richland Northeast, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

After both having extra time off, Dreher and Camden will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:15 p.m. on the 22nd. The Blue Devils are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Richland Northeast, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on A.C. Flora at 7:15 p.m. on the 22nd. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Cavaliers surely won't give up without a fight.
