The Yuba City Honkers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 73-36 loss at the hands of Woodcreek. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Yuba City has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Yuba City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Saleem Rafiq. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with three steals.
Yuba City struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Woodcreek pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodcreek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Hennessey, who scored 14 points along with two steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Joey Nielsen, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Yuba City has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Woodcreek, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yuba City will take on Antelope at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 69.88 points so far this season, Antelope's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Yuba City better be ready for a challenge. As for Woodcreek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Inderkum at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Inderkum will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Woodcreek surely won't give up without a fight.
