Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Scripps Ranch

Scripps Ranch extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Clare Valentine. The Scripps Ranch Falcons escaped with a win on Wednesday against the Cathedral Catholic Dons by the margin of a single free throw, 61-60 thanks in part to Valentine, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 13 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Scripps Ranch's points.

Another player making a difference was Ree Ree Davis, who posted 13 points and six assists. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played.

Scripps Ranch's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Cathedral Catholic, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 18-7.

Scripps Ranch and Cathedral Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Scripps Ranch (ranked 211th) will meet University City (ranked 523rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Cathedral Catholic will square off against Morse at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 309 places (98 vs. 407).
