Cortland waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They wrapped up 2024 with a 56-37 win over the Homer Trojans. While the Purple Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Cortland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaxson Gambitta, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. Caden Albright was another key player, putting up ten points.

Cortland's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Homer, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
