Basketball Recap: Northern Guilford Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Northern Guilford won the last time they faced Northwest Guilford and things went their way on Friday too. The Northern Guilford Nighthawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Northwest Guilford Vikings, sneaking past 55-53. That's two games straight that the Nighthawks have won by exactly two points.

Northern Guilford was led to victory by Leena McField and Malena DeLisa. McField almost dropped a double-double with 28 points and nine rebounds, while DeLisa en route to 16 points and six boards. McField's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 20 points.

Northern Guilford pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. As for Northwest Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.

Northern Guilford and Northwest Guilford are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Northern Guilford will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: McField and Jade Bell. As for Northwest Guilford, they will venture away from home to take on East Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Forsyth will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Northwest Guilford surely won't give up without a fight.
