Kaylin Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Makaila Anderson was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylie Goodwin, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.
Citrus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lecanto took on Forest on Friday. Lecanto came up short against Forest, falling 12-2.
Shawna Griffin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Izzy Coimbre, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Lecanto's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Citrus, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
