Having just played yesterday, the Hamilton Wildcats will jump right back in to play the Hillcrest Vikings at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Hamilton waltzed into their match Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They claimed a resounding 84-42 win over Mitchell on the road. That looming 84-42 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Hamilton yet this season.
Hamilton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devan McGee, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Timothy Matthews, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Hillcrest's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 97-85 to Whitehaven. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hillcrest in their matchups with Whitehaven: they've now lost four in a row.
Hamilton's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Hillcrest, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2.
Hamilton didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Hillcrest when the teams last played back in January of 2017, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. Will Hamilton repeat their success, or does Hillcrest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
