After two games on the road, Mattamuskeet is heading back home. They will take on the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mattamuskeet will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 596th, while the Raiders are ranked 247th).
Mattamuskeet scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 37-26 victory over Ocracoke. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Mattamuskeet has managed all season.
Meanwhile, Pungo Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They fell 42-31 to Ridgecroft.
Mattamuskeet's victory ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-11. As for Pungo Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.
Mattamuskeet was taken down by the Raiders 49-12 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mattamuskeet was down 29-7.
