West Montgomery have had to suffer through a 4-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their game against South Davidson on Friday by a conclusive 43-12 score. West Montgomery were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
West Montgomery got off to a slow start in their match last week, but they had no such trouble against South Davidson and cruised to a 22-point first half. South Davidson countered with 6 points, leaving the score at 22-6 going into the half. The West Montgomery defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the matchup. The win bumped West Montgomery's record up to 2-4. The loss dropped South Davidson's record to 1-5.
West Montgomery will take on Chatham Central at home at 7:30 PM next week. Unlike West Montgomery, Chatham Central will be limping in after taking a loss. As for South Davidson, they will face off against North Stanly.
