The team relied heavily on Jack Brenner, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Alex Demos also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Bend West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Cedarburg on Friday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Maddex Welzien tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Ryan Rose was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Brody Renk was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
West Bend West is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fond du Lac, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.
Fond du Lac took their win against West Bend West when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
