It was a good run, but The Chanute Blue Comets unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 28-21 to Tonganoxie. Chanute lost against Tonganoxie in their previous head to head back in September, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 38-21 score last time.
Despite the loss, Chanute saw an underclassman step up: Kris Harding ii threw for 153 yards and a touchdown.
Colton Brusven was his usual excellent self, rushing for 208 yards and three touchdowns. Isaiah Holthaus did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Chanute's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Tonganoxie, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Chanute does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tonganoxie will head out on the road to face off against Atchison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Atchison is on a six-game streak of home wins, Tonganoxie a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
