Basketball Recap: South Fort Myers Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

South Fort Myers put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 69-55 win over the Island Coast Gators. While the Wolfpack didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Leading South Fort Myers to victory were Ja?Mahdi Ward and Lil Darius Sotomayor. Ward dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards, while Sotomayor went 6 of 12 on his way to 21 points in addition to six boards and five assists. That's the most points Ward has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Wildelson Thermidor, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

When it comes to explaining why Island Coast lost, don't look at Mathias Harmon. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points. Harmon continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jose Bido, who had 13 points.

South Fort Myers pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Island Coast, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-2.

South Fort Myers didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-54 loss against Seacrest Country Day on the 6th. As for Island Coast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-48 win against LaBelle on the 6th.
