Two dominant signal callers in Jack Freehill and Callum Schweitzer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Menlo School Knights will welcome the Los Gatos Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Menlo School's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
Menlo School is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Palo Alto: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Knights blew the Vikings out of the water with a 49-6 final score. Considering the Knights have won six matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Menlo School had a senior duo take command as Chuck Wynn gained 140 total yards and Trevor Van Der Pyl picked up 116 receiving yards and one TD. Van Der Pyl got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 72 yards.
Menlo School was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Menlo School, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Van Der Pyl, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Los Gatos strolled past Wilcox with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Schweitzer and Kai Imahara. Schweitzer had a great game and threw for 212 yards and one touchdown while completing 78.6% of his passes. Meanwhile, Imahara was balling out in the loss, rushing for 115 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 64 yards and one TD.
Menlo School's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Los Gatos, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Menlo School was taken down by Los Gatos 38-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Wildcats' Beau Musser, who picked up 123 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground. Now that the Knights know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
