Mattamuskeet comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Mattamuskeet suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Columbia 52-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Mattamuskeet has suffered against Columbia since January 23, 2018.
Meanwhile, Bear Grass Charter came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 59-27 victory over Hobgood Charter. Bear Grass Charter has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Bear Grass Charter's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aubrey Dotson, who scored ten points along with seven steals and six rebounds, and Carolina Harrell, who scored ten points along with four steals. Harrell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Hylee (Al) Jarrett was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Mattamuskeet dropped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Bear Grass Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Mattamuskeet took a serious blow against Bear Grass Charter in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 58-12. Can Mattamuskeet avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
