The Masuk Panthers fell to the Newtown Nighthawks 81-41 when the two teams previously met in February of last year; this time around, they exacted some revenge. Masuk skirted past Newtown 51-48. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have won by three points.
The victory -- their fourth in a row -- raised Masuk's record to 11-5. The Nighthawks' defeat pushed them down to 23-13.
Masuk will square off against Bethel Friday. Bethel took a loss in their last game and are no doubt out to reverse Masuk's good fortune. Newtown is staying on the road Friday to face off against Kolbe-Cathedral. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close matchup.
