Portville is 1-6 against Frewsburg since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Portville Panthers will be playing at home against the Frewsburg Bears at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Portville was able to grind out a solid win over Cassadaga Valley, taking the game 54-43. The win was just what Portville needed coming off of a 71-31 defeat in their prior contest.
Frewsburg posted their closest win yet this season on Thursday. They skirted past Falconer 67-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Gavin Smith, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Frewsburg's points. Another player making a difference was Kael Collver, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six blocks.
Portville's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Frewsburg, they pushed their record up to 6-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
