Legend has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Ralston Valley Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Legend came up short against ThunderRidge and fell 73-65. While losing is never fun, Legend can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while ThunderRidge is ranked first).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Seth Whitehead, who scored 18 points along with five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carson Flowers, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Ralston Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They breezed by Columbine on the road to the tune of 90-62. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Ralston Valley has posted yet this season.
Caiden Braketa was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten assists. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Hansen, who scored 13 points along with nine assists and four steals.
Legend has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Ralston Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Legend have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Ralston Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 29.8 rebounds per game. Given Legend's sizeable advantage in that area, Ralston Valley will need to find a way to close that gap.
Legend was dealt a bruising 76-48 loss at the hands of Ralston Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Legend was down 40-18.
