Even though the Dr. Krop Lightning scored an imposing 68 points on Tuesday, the Homestead Broncos still came out on top. The stars were shining brightly for Homestead in a 84-68 win over Dr. Krop. Given Homestead's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Dr. Krop is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Homestead's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Reed , who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Bragg , who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Several Lightning players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joseph Washington, who scored 30 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Washington scored a full 44.1% of Dr. Krop's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Emmanuel Ferguson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Dr. Krop were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homestead only pulled down 37 offensive rebounds.
Homestead pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.3 points per game. As for Dr. Krop, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homestead will challenge Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Palmetto has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 588 points over their last eight matches. Dr. Krop will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. Northwestern is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
