Wooster has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Portola Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-30, which was the final score in Wooster's tilt against Bishop Manogue on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wooster has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Portola unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 89-84 hit to the loss column at the hands of Virginia City. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Saturday (62), Portola still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Portola saw an underclassman step up: Connor Sheridan dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 rebounds. Sheridan scored a full 36.9% of Portola's points, the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Johhny Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.
Wooster's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-5. As for Portola, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
