Football Recap: Kaedyn Meents Leads Clifton Central's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

Clifton Central had won three straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 4-0 to make it four. They strolled past Oakwood with points to spare, taking the game 35-21. For Clifton Central, this counts as revenge for the 42-34 win Oakwood walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Kaden Neveu produced another solid effort picking up 153 receiving yards and three scores. Another player making a difference was Brady Shule, who threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns.

Clifton Central didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Oakwood to a completion percentage of just 50%. Clifton Central hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.47 or higher in three consecutive games.

Clifton Central's defense also made the game a nightmare for Alex Wallace., racking up eight sacks. Kaedyn Meents was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself. Clifton Central got some further help from Derek Meier: he forced one fumble and made 12 total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Having lost for the first time this season, Oakwood fell to 3-1. The loss was their first of the season.

Oakwood lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kyler Johnson, who rushed for 93 yards and a pair of TDs. Drake Roberts also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.

Coming up, Clifton Central will venture away from home to square off against Watseka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comets will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Oakwood, they will be playing at home against Westville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 13.2 points per game this season, so the Comets' offense will have their work cut out for them.
