Bishop Blanchet is 2-8 against Roosevelt since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bears will head out to take on the Roughriders at 4:00 p.m.
Bishop Blanchet easily dispatched Nathan Hale on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Bears fell just short of Ballard by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bears have suffered since April 22, 2024.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over the Raiders. Considering the Roughriders have won four contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Gretchen Harder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Roosevelt got a massive performance out of Samantha Wright, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave Wright a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Lee, who scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.
Roosevelt pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Bishop Blanchet, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Bishop Blanchet came out on top in a nail-biter against Roosevelt in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
