Basketball Game Preview: Warren Bears vs. Bellflower Buccaneers

The Warren Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Bellflower Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Warren sitting on three straight wins and Bellflower on 11.

Warren will bounce into Friday's match after beating Downey, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Warren slipped by Downey 58-57 on Wednesday.

Lucas Osuna and King Johnson were among the main playmakers for Warren as the former almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards and the latter went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Osuna a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jorge Mota, who posted eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Warren smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Downey only pulled down four offensive boards.

Meanwhile, Bellflower posted their biggest victory since January 3rd on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Paramount 84-52. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Pirates are ranked 1090th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Warren has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Bellflower, they pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Warren came up short against Bellflower in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 47-43. Can Warren avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
