Springboro has gone a perfect 10-0 against Northmont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Panthers will host the Thunderbolts at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Springboro's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Northmont has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
On Monday, Springboro needed a bit of extra time to put away Miamisburg. They had just enough and edged out the Vikings 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won six in a row.

Ben Veletean was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Drew Davis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Springboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Northmont and Springfield, and Springfield kept the tradition alive. The Thunderbolts might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-5 to the Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Drake Sauber was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Austin Welch was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aidan Pendleton, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.
Northmont's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-1. As for Springboro, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Springboro was able to grind out a solid victory over Northmont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 13-9. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbolts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
