On Tuesday, Springfield made easy work of Streetsboro and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Spartans have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bre Ruggiero was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kendall Wilderman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Springfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ravenna got the win against Woodridge on Tuesday by a conclusive 7-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ravens.
Jocelynn Smallwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Savanna McKeown, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Kasey Sterba was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Springfield pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ravenna, their record is now 5-6.
