Baseball Recap: Tyler Find Success

Tyler won against Valley on Wednesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Knights walked away with a 10-5 win over the St. Marys Blue Devils. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Brennon Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Gabe Jackson was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Tyler's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Sawyer Kunkle, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Tyler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Marys only posted an OBP of .273.

The win got Tyler back to even at 8-8. As for St. Marys, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.

Tyler will be playing at home against Doddridge County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Marys, they are taking a road trip to face off against Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils are facing the Lumberjacks at the right time seeing as the Lumberjacks are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
