The Bloomfield Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the Vincennes Rivet Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Bloomfield and North Knox, and Bloomfield kept the tradition alive. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 10-1 win on Monday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Dillon Warnick was incredible, firing off three home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aiden Scott, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Bloomfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Vincennes Rivet entered their tilt with Evansville Bosse on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. The Patriots not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17, 2024.
Brody (Bo) Shots made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Vincennes Rivet: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 1-2 otherwise. Shots was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Gardner, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
Bloomfield pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Vincennes Rivet, their record is now 4-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bloomfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Vincennes Rivet struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bloomfield beat Vincennes Rivet 8-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
