After a string of five wins, The O'Neal School's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to the Freedom Christian Academy Patriots 54-48. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-50 back in January.
The O'Neal School's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamaya Hooker, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Kennedi Hamner was another key player, putting up eight points along with 11 rebounds and six steals.
Even though they lost, The O'Neal School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Freedom Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Zarah Lewis, who posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Lewis a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel West, who scored five points along with eight boards and four steals.
The O'Neal School's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season.
The O'Neal School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-17 victory against Berean Baptist Academy on the 31st. Freedom Christian Academy has also already played their next game, a 67-45 loss against Trinity Christian on the 29th.
