The Edison Eagles will square off against the Carteret Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carteret took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Edison, who comes in off a win.
Edison took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Piscataway 12-1. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Jenna Fugate and Callie DiBisceglie were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Fugate tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, DiBisceglie tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Fugate has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Fugate went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while DiBisceglie went 2-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, K Harkins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Olivia Shourt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Carteret was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Middlesex, falling 20-2.
Edison pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carteret, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Edison took their victory against Carteret in their previous matchup on April 2nd by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Ramblers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
