While losing is never fun, Vista del Lago can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 571st, while Capital Christian is ranked 74th).
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Kramer, who scored ten points. Dominic Rostami was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Capital Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Myles Wiggins, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Wiggins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Valdez, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Vista del Lago and nudges their season record down to 8-11. As for Capital Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Vista del Lago will head out on the road to challenge El Camino at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. El Camino is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Capital Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Clayton Valley Charter at 9:00 p.m. on January 13th. Clayton Valley Charter is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
