Poly is a perfect 3-0 against Orange Vista since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bears will take on the Coyotes at 3:15 p.m. Poly's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Orange Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Poly's victory against Paloma Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted against the Wildcats since March 6, 2018.
Marley Audoma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Karly Romero, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Katelyn Cortez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Orange Vista got the win against Rancho Verde on Friday by a conclusive 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Coyotes, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Orange Vista got a big performance out of Angela Suarez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Suarez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Macai Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Orange Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.
Poly has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Orange Vista, their record is now 13-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Poly hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Orange Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Poly's way against Orange Vista when the teams last played back in April, as Poly made off with an 11-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
