The Sierra Stallions managed to keep up with the Elizabeth Cardinals until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Sierra suffered a tough 52-31 loss at the hands of Elizabeth. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Sierra has suffered since December 18, 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Sierra lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shetara Roebuck. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with five assists and four steals. Roebuck has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
Elizabeth's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Piper Loeks, who scored six points along with seven assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of London Machado, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Sierra dropped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.6 points per game. As for Elizabeth, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sierra will face off against Mitchell at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mitchell is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Elizabeth, they will head out on the road to take on Falcon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Falcon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday.
