The Proviso East Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hammond Central Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Proviso East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 22 matchups -- so hopefully Hammond Central likes a good challenge.
Even though Proviso West scored an imposing 61 points on Monday, Proviso East still came out on top. Proviso East took their matchup against Proviso West 72-61.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Proviso East to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joaquin Dixon, who scored 23 points. Dixon hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Isaiah Pickens was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Meanwhile, Hammond Central pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hammond Bishop Noll.
Hammond Central might have lost, but man, Marcus Browder was a machine: he scored 24 points along with three steals. Browder is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Da'shawn Woods, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Proviso East has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Hammond Central, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8.
