The Montville Wolves will venture away from home to face off against the Woodstock Academy Centaurs at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Montville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Windham as they made off with an 18-0 win. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Whippets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Natalie Lutyen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Lutyen was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Montville got a massive performance out of Abby Daniewicz, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Alanna Noonan was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Woodstock Academy made easy work of Lyman Memorial on Tuesday and carried off a 22-8 win.
Like Montville, Woodstock Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaya Nichols. She tossed six innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Nichols was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellary Sampson, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Campbell Favreau, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Woodstock Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lyman Memorial only posted an OBP of .355.
Montville came up short against Woodstock Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 10-7. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
